Before and during the reunion, we had been talking about swapping some of the kids this summer. A couple of years ago Jared went to Ryan’s house and had a good time being with a cousin who we does not get to see that much. A couple of the older kids came and stayed with Kevin and Christie. This time, it worked out that Ryan and Tatum got to stay here in Albuquerue. Ryan mostly stayed here at our house and Tatum was mostly at Kevin and Christie’s house.
My kids had tennis the whole week, but we skipped out on that in order to spend more time with the cousins. The fourth of July was a crazy busy day, but it was a lot of fun. We went to our ward party at 8:00 in the morning. Jake spent some time putting up his volleyball net, which is a ward favorite activity. We ate breakfast, played, talked with a lot of folks and played some volleyball. All of the younger kids went to the Burtons to play while Jake and I stayed to play some volleyball. After that, we hurried and fed the kids some lunch and went swimming at a friend’s house. The water was great and the little kids were having a ball jumping off the diving board. Then we went to another friend’s party for a little while. That had rented a jumper and the kids had lots of fun jumping around. Then we ate dinner and went to the park with a lot of La Cueva ward people. The kids had a great time running around. We capped off the night by driving down north of Louisiana and Alameda to watch the fireworks. We had a great view! It was a great day spent with family and friends.
The rest of the week we tried to do some fun things with the cousins. We went to putt-putt, the dollar theater, art attack (a place where you paint your own ceramics), more swimming, and lots of fun playing around the house and having cousin sleep-overs. It was a whirlwind week, and a lot of fun.
Ryan was a great kid to have stay with us. He was very easy going. I am thinking that he probably went home grateful that he does not have an older brother, due to Eric’s love of jumping on people and getting in their face. Reagan had so much fun with Tatum. When Tatum was over, Reagan would just stay by her every step of the way. It was like she had a new mother.
